Luyckx inaugurates its new branch in Izegem

At the end of March, Luyckx, the specialist distributor of construction machinery, inaugurated its new branch in Izegem. The company has erected new buildings in the heart of West Flanders to better support its regional customers.

“Although our head office is in Brecht in the province of Antwerp, we have been present in Izegem for 28 years. We have expanded our facilities there and recruited additional staff to provide an even better service to our regional customers,” explains Werner Hellemans, a representative at Luyckx.

Renowned family business

Luyckx is known as the Belux importer of Kubota construction machinery up to 8 tonnes and Hitachi machinery from 8 tonnes upwards. Luyckx is also the distributor for PowerBully in Belgium. In addition, the company represents the Ammann, Effer and Hiab brands in Flanders. And not to be forgotten: Luyckx is also a dealer for New Holland agricultural machinery in the Noord-Kempen region. “We distribute premium products, such as Kubota and Hitachi, for which we have been a distributor since the 1980s. Since then, we have consistently been the market leader in sales of these two brands. Customers from all market segments place their trust in us, and we are grateful for that.”

“We are a family business that maintains good relationships with our customers, dealers and suppliers. This gives us unique flexibility, as we can make decisions quickly. Furthermore, we can respond to the needs of every customer and offer comprehensive solutions. We can also accommodate requests for customisation and modifications to the machinery, ensuring they meet customers’ expectations as closely as possible.”

New buildings

Construction work on Luyckx’s new buildings in Izegem began in autumn 2024 and was completed at the end of March 2026. “From this site, we provide an after-sales service to customers in the West Flanders region. Service is our strength. In Izegem, we have grown from 6 to 10 technicians. Our local customer base is reliable and we have invested in modern buildings for the future.”

In addition to a new workshop, the site also features a showroom and a parts warehouse. “We have optimised our warehouse, as we also sell parts in Izegem. Thanks to our new showroom, we can now display machines as well. So we can also sell from Izegem.”

Kubota U18-5

A number of new products were on display during the open days. First and foremost was the new Kubota U18-5 mini excavator. This is a 1.76-tonne machine. The chassis can be widened to a maximum of 1.3 m for improved stability when using heavy attachments. In narrow mode, the width is 990 mm, which makes manoeuvring through narrow passages easier and allows work in confined spaces. The operator’s cab of the U18-5 has also been improved. All controls are ergonomically positioned for faster and easier operation.

Under the bonnet of the U18-5 is a 3-cylinder Kubota engine that complies with the Stage V standard. To reduce noise and emissions and save fuel, the excavator is equipped with an automatic idle control system. The rear panel and the left-hand side panel can be opened without tools. This provides quick access to the engine oil dipstick, the water separator, the radiator, the battery and much more. Furthermore, the panels on the Kubota U18-5 are made of steel for extra strength and easy repairs.

Kubota electric U27-4

Like all other manufacturers, Kubota now also offers electric machines. What sets this manufacturer apart, however, is that electrification is offered as a retrofit option. Thanks to this solution, customers can replace the machine’s engine with a modular battery pack. Alternatively, the mini excavators can be fitted with the battery pack from the outset and later replaced with a diesel engine, or vice versa. This concept is designed to make the transition to electric machines more accessible and practical for the construction sector.

The 2.5-tonne Kubota U27-4 electric excavator has a low noise level, making it ideal for urban environments and indoor applications. “There is demand for electric machines in Belgium, but the legislation is not currently favourable,” says Werner Hellemans. “The subsidies are still insufficient, so for the time being the extra costs have to be borne by the customer. This situation is slowing down the transition to electric.”

Hitachi Zaxis 375 USLC

Hitachi Construction Machinery will soon be changing its name to Landcros. Ahead of this full rebranding, which is expected to take place in April 2027, the manufacturer is presenting the new Zaxis 375 USLC compact excavator. This is the largest machine in the Hitachi range with an ultra-short swing radius. This compact excavator is ideal for confined spaces where intensive lifting work is required. The machine is equipped with a 6-cylinder Isuzu engine delivering 268 hp and has an operating weight of 35.6 tonnes.
