An unforgettable weekend of celebrations to mark 100 years of UNIZO Groot-Brecht

We look back with great pride on a fantastic weekend of celebrations to mark the centenary of UNIZO Groot-Brecht. From 1 to 4 October, we welcomed thousands of visitors to our sites in Brecht. Entrepreneurs, jobseekers, customers, families and local residents all had the chance to take a unique look behind the scenes at Luyckx. We also put our own staff in the spotlight during our annual staff party. It was a particularly successful weekend that will be remembered for a long time to come.

An inspiring start for entrepreneurs

On Thursday evening, we had the honour of kicking off the weekend of celebrations by hosting the entrepreneurs’ event organised by UNIZO Groot-Brecht and the municipality of Brecht. Following a tour of our company, the participants were treated to an inspiring talk by Anneleen Michiels, an expert in family businesses and their financial dynamics.

Following this fascinating presentation and a prize draw for a few copies of her book Geld & Generaties, the evening concluded with a convivial networking reception. In a relaxed atmosphere, local entrepreneurs had the opportunity to exchange experiences, make new contacts and get to know one another better.

A well-deserved celebration for our staff

Friday was entirely devoted to our annual staff party. After a convivial barbecue, our staff listened attentively to guest speaker Alain Remue. As the founder of the Missing Persons Unit, he captivated everyone with impressive stories from his career and the experiences that went with them.

The evening rounded off with dessert, drinks and, above all, plenty of lovely conversations. It was a wonderful moment to reflect on our team’s dedication and to enjoy a successful evening together.

Looking for new talent

On Saturday, we opened our doors to anyone interested in a career at Luyckx. Those who attended were introduced to our various departments and discovered the wide range of opportunities within our company. This gave potential new colleagues a better insight into day-to-day life at Luyckx.

Over 6,600 visitors at our open day

Sunday saw the grand finale of the weekend. As part of the ‘Brecht businesses open their doors’ initiative, we welcomed no fewer than 6,600 visitors across our two sites.

Thanks to the lovely late-summer weather and the huge turnout, it was an unforgettable day. Visitors were able to explore our warehouses, workshops and machinery up close and get a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes. Young and old alike also enjoyed snacks, drinks and activities on our premises.

The fact that this festival weekend was such a huge success is not only down to the many enthusiastic visitors. Behind the scenes, dozens of staff and volunteers were on hand to ensure everything ran smoothly.
