Starfish at work in gigantic wind mill park in Taiwan

In 2018, Jan De Nul, together with Hitachi LTD, won a tender for the construction and installation of 21 wind turbines on the high seas, 10 km from the coastline. These windmills have been developed and built by Hitachi LTD and are the first in the world that can withstand the toughest possible typhoons with wind speeds of 250 km/h. For the first five years, the Jan De Nul-Hitachi consortium is responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the TPC Changhua offshore wind farm phase 1. Each cable, with a cost price of 2.3 million euros, must be buried very accurately with the greatest caution against damage.

In the pictures, the 3 Starfish excavators (1 x MA200 and 2 x ZX870) are at work. They are used for digging in the electricity cables.
